benedikt frey s arresting out of here was the second entry of our blanc series. originally a vinyl-only limited release, now the track gets a fresh new treatment in the hands of two mainstays of european techno: roman flugel and simon haydo. flugel s cosmic disco drama rework lives up to its name, maintaining the noir disco spirit of the original track but infusing it with tension-building sequences and strings that give it an extra mischievous twist. our favorite frankfurter also straightens the rhythmic skeleton and adds shuffling shakers to make it a relentless dancefloor weapon. haydo s remix delves into a more dismal terrain, transforming the vocals into haunted echoes, adding esoteric synths and topping it all with razor-sharp percussion in what sounds like a storm of ice asteroids falling into a lake of steel. the 12inch comes in a beautiful sleeve featuring an exclusive illustration by barcelona-based artist pau lopez and design by arnau pi.

for the crf012 we are proud to invite the dutch artist, dimi angelis, one of our favorite techno producer. with this release, the man offers us three solid and tasty tracks without compromise. repetitive, minimalist, all tunes are mesmerizing, the music speaks for itself, no need to talk, the best way is to listen.

downfall theory embarks on a new chapter as it hosts a full release from a producer other than its owner, sanys. myztical isn’t exactly a newcomer though, and the ukrainian producer has already two releases to his credit on nicz records. given the title of his debut on downfall theory, it is no surprise to learn that myztical is using it as a means to question reality. inspired by the science fiction writer philip k dick and decades of electronic music, he certainly succeeds on venturing into uncharted territories on the title track. muffled, repetitive vocal samples, an atonal rhythm and relentless, slightly distorted kicks show that quite often, simplicity is the most potent ingredient. on “faith of our fathers”, myztical disappears farther down the wormhole. splintered rhythms, deranged howls and a deranged filter push his vision for broken beat techno into the abyss. “substance d” sees the ukrainian hotshot return to a more linear approach, pounding kicks underpin ghostly shrieks before a breakdown sees the track descend into grimy, woody mcbride-style acid. the accompanying vocal sample, the embodiment of a bad trip, only serves to accentuate the track’s darkly hallucinogenic qualities. finally, there’s “shifted realities” - it revisits the jagged filters of “faith of our fathers”, but does so against the backdrop of a pounding industrial kick and a grungy, low-slung rhythm.

* beyond the clouds* was recorded from a live session near the heart of detroit using hand crafted modular synthesizers, analog devices and custom made effects units. remastered by ron murphy @ nsc mastering, detroit, usa shortly before he passed away, his memory will live in our hearts forever. in this live version of cv313s classic, the modular recordings were separated, dissected in the mix and dubbed out with a litany of analog effects. during this performance there was a mystical element in the air, strobe lights, vaporous gas and electric dreams. a connection felt with the dancers, a groove beyond a groove, it is that magical essence of japan. this was a night to remember, recorded live in tokyo with love. during the closing moments, the ghostly ambiance faded, the smoke cleared and beyond the sequence was born. remastered by bazza @ alchemy studio, london. uk

following their release of the michael turtle 12inch last year, music from memory now publish phantoms of dreamland a compilation of works by the uk musician recorded between 1983-1985. tip! this double lp features tracks drawn from the recording sessions for turtles album music from the living room and also collects material turtle recorded shortly after that, for an album which would never materialise. with three tracks taken from music from the living room’ and the rest of the compilation entirely made up of unreleased tracks, phantoms of dreamland draws on an illustrious period for michael.

liam blackburn s transformative night of visions lp as ancestral voices forged a bold new sonic identity for an influential figure on the electronic music scene. from his groundbreaking work as indigo and onto the success of akkord s hybrid electronic melting pot (with synkro), the quest for forward movement is intrinsic to everything liam produces. to further celebrate the night of visions lp release, we asked some of our favourite producers to reconstruct some of night of visions highlights in their own style. each remixer chose their own track from night of visions to work with. the first name on our remix list was swedish producer and northern electronics label head - abdulla rashim. choosing invocations , his remix focuses on the hypnotic power of the original, turning the tune into a golden loop with subtle kick drum stabs, sweeping percussion and a dangling tension that hangs through the entire 7.33 minutes. asc & sam kdc chose feathered serpent and using just touches of the original tune have masterfully built an all new backbone that demonstrates clearly the ability of the grey area sound to work at 2 different tempo s and weld together with straight techno.

oona dahl joined us at all day i dream last year both as a dj and recording artists. her first release high eyes was featured on our summer sampler and floated onto the dance floor and into the consciousness of dj s around the world. oona studied sound design in the usa before moving to berlin over the summer of 2015 to continue honing and crafting her sound. her first full ep for adid features deep dreamscapes and innovative arrangements underpinned by solid grooves that capture emotive, twisted melodic expressions. she and her music are a trip to the depths.
